The opportunity…
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Diversity, Equity and Belonging to guide sustainable and effective development of programs, aiming for continued growth and development of organizational performance throughout the Yukon public service.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, People & Culture Division, you will lead initiatives that foster a representative, inclusive and equitable workplace across the Government of Yukon. This role is pivotal in creating a representative public service in our organization and a culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential. This role supports the advancement of Chapter 22 Umbrella Final Agreement and the Calls to Actions for Truth & Reconciliation. You will lead a team of diversity, equity and inclusion specialists, direct corporate change projects and initiatives, and oversee branch operations and budgets. This position is a key member of the Public Service Commission senior management team.

- Experience leading change management and collaborating with clients, external partners and external service providers in relation to diversity and inclusion related programs.
- Experience managing human and financial resources and leading and coaching cross-functional teams.
- Considerable experience providing corporate oversight and direction in the implementation and execution of equity, diversity and inclusion programs, policies, and frameworks. Experience in the public sector or with First Nation governments will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and understanding of Indigenous lived experience and a commitment to support truth and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
- A degree in public administration, business administration, human resources or related field, will be considered an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or lived experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered.
