Our role
Yukon government’s Climate Change Secretariat has the lead role in ensuring Yukon government actions support a healthy and resilient Yukon in a changing climate. We work within the Yukon government and with our partners to: identify needs, opportunities, and priorities; promote and support action; and monitor and report on success.
Your role
The Mitigation Analyst at the Climate Change Secretariat is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting greenhouse gas emissions across Yukon, including Government of Yukon’s operations, and contributes to the Climate Change Secretariat’s overall greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
This position is 60 hours bi-weekly.

- Diploma/Degree in a field related to the science of climate change mitigation, such as Science or Environmental Management, or a related degree
- Experience in researching, developing or implementing strategies or actions related to aspects of Climate Change
- Experience in communicating technical information to a variety of audiences, including non-experts
- Experience synthesizing, processing, and analyzing technical data preferably using coding or programming
- Experience working with Python is an asset
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a variety of forms (including written, orally, and visually) to a variety of audiences
- Strong organization and time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments, organizations, partners, and stakeholder groups.

- Occasional travel to the communities or across Canada may be required
- Conditions of Employment:
- Completion of ~6-week Introduction to Python course, chosen by the employer, within the first 6 months of employment
