This job is based in the lively community of Dawson City in the beautiful Yukon.
Our team
The Dawson City Medical Clinic (DCMC) provides primary health care services to clients across the age spectrum, offering booked and same-day care for minor illnesses, injuries, and medical procedures, and supporting patients with chronic health conditions.
The clinic operates as a collaborative primary care team, with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and medical office assistants working in partnership with other co-located allied health professionals to deliver integrated, client-centred and culturally safe care.
Your role
Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct client care in close collaboration with other clinicians and staff of the Dawson City Medical Clinic (DCMC). RNs deliver direct health-care services, provide education, leadership, coordinate care, and support clients to manage their own health.
The RN role at DCMC will provide care across the client population, with a specific focus on performing procedures and assessments within their scope of practice, and on providing care for people with chronic conditions.

Essential qualifications

- Either registered or eligible to be registered as an RN in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
- Significant experience working as a primary health care RN in a collaborative practice
- Knowledge of and experience working with clients requiring ongoing chronic disease management would be an asset
- Demonstrated Northern, remote or rural experience providing primary health care is an asset

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- Current registration in good standing as an RN with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
- TB screening
- Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance
- WHMIS 2015 (completed within one month of hire)
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- The incumbent may be exposed to clients who present in the clinic with symptoms of communicable disease coughing. sneezing) or with specimens for laboratory diagnosis (bodily fluids) or who may be bleeding because of illness or injury.
- The incumbent requires reaching, stooping, bending, carrying, sitting, and walking (awkward postures within these positions may also occur). May need to support client transfers, repositioning (partial body weight of (100 - 250) lbs). Lifting and carrying of equipment/supplies up to 15kg. Possible exposure to latex may occur on occasion
- The clinic can be noisy and congested with people coming and going. Multiple work areas are open, and interruptions are common.
- There is the potential of emotional and mental stress when working in a busy environment where people are sometimes required to wait extended periods of time to be seen by one of the collaborative care teams. This may include clients that are dissatisfied with service and may become verbally or physically abusive.
- This position may be generalist in nature requiring a quick switch from one area to another while serving various clients in succession.
