This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position with Continuing Care at Alexander McDonald Lodge in Dawson City working 80 hours bi-weekly. It will also be used to establish a 12‑month eligibility list, which may be used to fill future similar vacancies.
The position is based in Dawson City, a vibrant and diverse northern community in the Yukon.

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) in Dawson City, YT is a 15-bed long-term care home that provides person-centered care to individuals who need varying levels of intermediate care support with daily living activities. Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume; ensure you use a month/year to month/year format and include the duties you performed in each of your positions..
- Considerable experience leading kitchen operations, preferably in a healthcare, long-term care, hospitality, or community services environment, coordinating high-volume meal production and delivery, menu planning, inventory management, and ordering procedures.
- Experience supervising, coordinating, or mentoring kitchen staff.
- Completion of a recognized Cook training program, professional culinary certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journeyman Cook Certification (Red Seal) is considered as an asset.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
- Strong leadership, teamwork and team coordination abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including HACCP principles, quality monitoring, recordkeeping, and corrective actions.
- Understanding of occupational health and safety (OHS) and infection control requirements.
- Ability to prepare meals that meet diverse dietary needs, including modified diets, while following menus and standardized recipes; experience with menu planning for regular and special events and coordinating with external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, inventory, and cost-control skills, including maintaining cleaning schedules and managing emergency food supplies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow written and verbal instructions, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
TB screening, RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check, Food Safe Level 1 (completed within the last two years), WHMIS 2015, Class 5 Driver’s License
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Exposure to animals in the Pet Therapy program, exposure to plants and/or flowers and/or second-hand smoke, exposure to latex products, shift work and weekends, heavy lifting up to 15-30 kilos daily and bending, reaching, standing, and walking, occasional driving to deliver meals.
