Who we are…
The Yukon Bureau of Statistics (YBS) is a branch of the Yukon government (YG) in the Department of Finance. YBS helps governments, businesses and residents of Yukon make informed decisions with the provision of timely and reliable statistical information. The Bureau collects, analyses and publishes statistical information, and works on statistical research projects and data modelling.
YBS collaborates with and assists YG departments in providing professional expertise and support in data collection, analysis and statistical research. The Bureau also collaborates with Statistics Canada, other federal departments, and provincial/territorial statistical agencies on matters of mutual interest and exchanges ideas and information with them.
The opportunity…
The Operations Manager works collaboratively with YBS research and data science teams and clients to assess project feasibility, design surveys, develop data collection methods, and establish project timelines and budgets during the planning phase. During implementation, the Operations Manager leads all field operations, ensuring data collection activities are conducted on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established methodological and quality standards. The role includes managing financial and human resources, monitoring data collection progress, adjusting strategies as required, and maintaining effective operational systems to achieve high-quality data collection and target response rates.
Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Management, Sociology, or a relevant field.
- Recent experience in planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of field operations in data collection.
- Recent experience in supervising a team, including assigning work and managing performance.
- Experience in managing fluctuating workload, including organizing and delegating tasks to meet deadlines.
The following qualifications will be considered as assets:
- Experience working in a similar role within an official statistical agency.
- Experience in project management, including the development of project budgets and monitoring progress against project plan.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
