Who we are
Sexualized Assault Response Team (SART) is responsible for the successful operation of the Yukon’s sexual assault health services. We are a specialized, trauma-informed, team dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault with timely, coordinated care. We work collaboratively with a broad network of community partners, including law enforcement, Victim Services, women's transition homes, healthcare providers, First Nations organizations, and other community agencies to ensure survivors receive coordinated, holistic, and timely support. Nurses will join our team of skilled clinicians as advocates, educators, and experts in forensics who provide specialized assessment and treatment. Together, we strive to create a service where every survivor feels heard, believed, respected, and supported in their choices.
Your impact
The Registered Nurse – Forensics/Sexual Assault is a licensed nurse with specialized training in trauma-informed, medical-forensic care for individuals who have experienced sexual assault or abuse. This role focuses on delivering immediate, compassionate, and patient-centered care while ensuring accurate collection and documentation of forensic evidence. Responsibilities include providing essential medical care related to the assault, performing evidence collection, and facilitating access to additional support services and resources.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. - Currently registered or eligible to be registered with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority;
- Recent experience in nursing practices and techniques preferably in emergency, community, or sexualized health services;
- Experience providing nursing care and support to individuals affected by sexualized violence, intimate partner violence, family violence, or other forms of trauma
- Experience conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, developing care plans, and providing clinical interventions with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgment;
- Experience working collaboratively with community and justice sector partners to facilitate coordinated, trauma-informed responses for individuals
- Experience maintaining accurate clinical documentation and preparing records in accordance with professional, legal, and organizational standards;

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- Registered Nurse registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
- Current TB Screening;
- Current RCMP Vulnerable Sector Clearance
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent
- CPR C & AED; or, Health Care Provider AED; or, BLS with oxygen;
- WHMIS (within one month of hire)
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- Adherence to strict medical and forensic protocols are needed to ensure patient safety and evidence integrity.
- This position may involve long periods of standing, bending, and moderate physical effort. Shifts included variable and extended hours.
- The position involves supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. This can create emotional strain and requires strong resilience, self-awareness, and adherence to professional boundaries.
- Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other biohazards inherent in clinical and forensic care. Strict infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and specialized training are in place to minimize risk.
- This work will primarily be conducted within the hospital setting with the potential to perform work in other clinical settings such as local medical clinics.
