This is a full-time permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Agriculture Branch supports the development and sustainability of Yukon’s agriculture sector through regulatory oversight, agriculture land and program administration, extension services, and support to producers. The Branch is responsible for agriculture land development, livestock health and protection, food safety and meat inspection, and the delivery of funding and incentive programs.
About the position
The Agrologist is a strategic lead for agriculture extension, applied research and sector development within the Agriculture Branch. This position helps shape programs, policies, partnerships and practical initiatives that support the growth and sustainability of Yukon agriculture and local food systems. Working with producers, First Nations, industry organizations, researchers, governments and community partners, the Agrologist contributes to work that has a visible impact on agricultural operations and communities across the Yukon.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. • Degree in agriculture, agrology, animal science, plant science, soil science, agricultural technology, natural resource management or a related field.
• Experience providing agricultural extension services, technical advice, training, workshops or knowledge-transfer activities.
• Experience in agricultural production, farming operations or applied agricultural field work.
• Experience managing agricultural, natural resource or community-based projects, including planning, coordinating resources, monitoring progress and preparing related reports, recommendations or briefing materials.
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
• Professional Agrologist designation, or eligibility for registration.
• Experience working in northern, remote or Indigenous community settings.
• Experience in public-sector policy or program development.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the qualifications listed above may be considered.
